Here, in 1798, the poet, song-writer and political poet Hoffman von Fallersleben, who wrote the lyrics of the German national anthem, was born. Wolfsburg’s Art Museum, which offers modern and contemporary art a first class space by means of its exhibits and international exhibitions, also ranks highly.

Directly next to our listed main railway station stands, or rather ‘floats‘, possibly the largest (with an area of 9,000 m2) walkable sculpture in Germany: phæno – The Experimental Landscape. Here you can experience 250 interactive experiment stations showing the exciting world of natural sciences and technology.

In the city centre is the ‚World of Mobility Experience‘, Volkswagen’s Autostadt. This unique theme park emotionalises and offers numerous events from the international ‘Movimentos’ dance festival to the annual ‘Christmas World’. Embedded in the 25 hectare park and lagoon landscape situated between the old power station with its silhouetted towers and the Mittelland Canal, the Autostadt also offers unsurpassed gastronomic delights for all tastes and seasons.

The Wolfsburg Shopping Boulevard, Porschestraße, is enticing with its numerous offers. The first Designer Outlet Centre in a German city centre further enhances the shopping experience. With a total of 12,000 m2 and with over 40 designer shops and boutiques, the designer outlets Wolfsburg offer very special international top-class fashion at particularly attractive prices.

Wolfsburg amazes with sport as well: first class national league football in one of the loveliest stadiums in Germany. National league ice hockey in the ice stadium, sailing regattas on the Allersee, water-skiing and wakeboarding, leisure activities in BadeLand, beach volleyball facilities and much more – and all this in the Allerpark!
